When one first signs on to the Tagging interface, the default is to show "all" submitted domains. There isn't a clear motivation to vote and the volume of domains makes the prospect a little daunting. It would be great to have a "Random 10" / "Random 20" / etc. feature that would pick a sampling from the database of submitted domains and ask you to vote on just those.

On another note, might this not be used maliciously once deployed live? A user could submit a domain that has yet to be blocked by OpenDNS and host malicious code on the site. By submitting the site to the Tagging/voting engine, they'd essentially be inviting other users to click on the domain (how else could a person determine whether it was tagged correctly?).

benblay- I agree with first statement, but feel it could be implemented with a random feature, button or link.

For the second issue, yes that would be a potential risk. If one is using OpenDNS and had Phishing protection turned on that could help re mediate it some, but if the site is fresh that is another story.

The random feature seems like a good idea.

Shouldn't the domains that either HAVEN'T been voted on, or have a very amount of votes be a higher priority and are sent to the top of the list?

There is a dropdown so you can focus your attention on a single category at a time. Would it be interesting/useful if the menu remembered your last choice? (Or would you be more annoyed when you came back and forgot why it was defaulted to, say, Instant Messaging?)

On the second note, about malicious stuff... we've handled this with PhishTank, and we're going to apply some of the same lessons. You'll notice that there is not (yet) a Malware category. We intend to offer one when there is more protection/awareness of the risks involved.

Hi pencoyd,

Yes I've seen the dropdown - most useful, but when there's hundreds (or thousands) of entires in one category, only the most recently added ones are the ones I see - I lose interest after a few pages!!

I think the newest and least voted on should (maybe?) rise to the top, thus be seen by subscribers first....

I'm not sure about exposing the volume of votes to visitors - this may introduce voting based on numbers, no relevance.

What if the domains you were offered were ones which your network had gone to. That would make them a little more relevant and interesting to tag
