Similar to the PhishTank add-on (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3840) that notifies and/or blocks a site that you're visiting if the url is found on PhishTank's site. It would be nice to have one specifically for the domain tagging category "adware". This way people that don't use OpenDNS can still have minimal protection from possible bad sites when using Firefox.

Could allow for greater Internet community participation. Good idea
The two comments above belong at the link John provided.
What you are asking for is the ability to have OpenDNS like features without OpenDNS.

how does that idea have anything to do with mine? My idea is to have an extension that blocks sites listed under adware, not make an extension that just makes it easier to tag domains.
@deathfired - I retitled this idea to reflect the differences. Thanks for the clarification.

yeahbut... people who don't have OpenDNS can have the AdBlock firefox extension.
What is the "submit this domain to OpenDNS adware filtering category" going to add? The hostname portion of the URL currently in the browser address bar? Most of the time that won't be the "right" domain to target. Right-click on an object, and access the extension via context menu, targeting the domain of the selected object?

It would do just what the PhishTank add-on does when it encounter a site you're visiting that's been labeled as a phishing site. It prevents you from viewing it and asks you politely if you wish to proceed in viewing the potently adware infested site or if you want to go back to the previous site you where looking at (ie. google).
Adblock plus is only designed for blocking included ads, popups, and such. If you must compare this idea to something, compare it to the firefox blocksite add-on. Which is nice however cannot deal with a large list of blocked sites nor does it have an easy way to add sites. This is why I feel this idea should be made and offered up for the firefox community.

It would also be nice to have the addon allow you to tag the domains without visiting OpenDNS, example:
Have the list of categories in a drop-down menu, allowing the user to select one, then have a button they could press to submit it.
This could streamline domain tagging ;-)
