I would like to see a Dynamic IP Updater for Ubuntu/Linux.
I know there are workarounds but there are tedious and not as good as an official Updater.
And as the Forum entries shows, I am not the only one who would be happy to see something like that.
Thanks for listening, Fingon

Getting an OpenDNS Client and GUI is definitely a must. This is 2010, I'm sure "linux for human beings" doesn't include having to launch terminals just to run opendns with a workaround. PLEASE SUPPORT! :)
YES PLEASE!!! A graphical inferface would be nice but even if there was a pre-configured package that can be downloaded and installed through aptitude!
Here is a pretty simple way to do it without scripts or much magic....
http://www.arkienet.com/blog/2010/01/ubuntu-opendns/
The current updater setup for a Linux box requires configuring ddclient. But this means the user has to openly display both his OpenDNS Account username & password. The Windows Updater Client does not require open display of the username and password of the account.
OpenDNS, please create an Updater Client for Linux that does not require open display of the OpenDNS Account username & password--both for the security of the user and OpenDNS!
"But this means the user has to openly display both his OpenDNS Account username & password"
The conf file containing your user name and password has the following permissions
ls -l ddclient.conf
-rw------- 1 root root 233 2011-02-23 10:10 ddclient.conf
Which means only root can read or write to this file. If someone gets root access on your machine, you are going to have worse problems than your dns updating. This is no less secure than a windows machine that 'masks' a password with ******s. A hacker can still get that password with admin access and the right software ;-)
Please see http://www.opendns.com/support/article/101 for more information on a Linux IP updater.

http://ddclient.wiki.sourceforge.net/ offers a script but I'm not brave enough to try this. I'd love a simple graphic UI program like the Windows version.
