Radmoose (if you're still around, or anyone else who can answer), are you referring to a WiFi setting on my Android device, or on my router? I do have a static IP address on my network. I'm not allowed to change DNS on my router and haven't rooted my devices, but would like to at least change to OpenDNS on my home network if possible.
Take a look at the android app "Set DNS". It requires root access, but overrides DNS for both WiFi and 3g connections. It has opendns server IPs pre-configured (along with others)

@mytechie - That's great, but if you're connecting via 3G, how does opendns know which account you are associated with, and therefore how to apply whitelist policies, etc?

@eisnathans you're right. It doesn't. OpenDNS works out the policies from your IP address and there isn't anything within setDNS to update the openDNS servers - effectively a dyndns update. rnI'm pretty sure I've seen an app that does the dynamic IP update for OpenDNS, so the combination of both apps would suffice. rnHowever, on my network (Orange UK) all my 3G outbound web access is proxied by Orange. DNS resolution would therefore be done on their servers and whitelist policies, etc, then becomes a moot point. rnI don't know what happens on other mobile networks. If other networks allow unproxied access to the internet then it might be worth modifying the setDNS code to update OpenDNS as and when the network settings change.rnWould that be useful?
i new to this my friend hopefully ok to call you friend iam useing htc s coul you help me set up..

Would be good to get a mobile version of the dashboard as well

I would love to have OpenDNS on my iPhone over 3G!
I'd like to see an dynamic IP updater app for IOS. This way I could run it on the iPad as it stays powered on more than my home PC.
I've tried android app "Set DNS" and it does what it says, but an app that allowed me to apply my OpenDNS whitelist / blacklist is really what I want.
please create an app for android and iOS rnrnplease
| Edit
Not an elegant solution, but I tested to see whether the problem was due to 3G by putting the phone in "airplane mode" and then re-enabling WiFi. FINALLY the filters worked (and the access was much faster). Now the work-around with my carrier would seem to be to apply similar filters to their DNS service.
Great idea to set DNS servers, preferably without needing to root the phone though, as I doubt users would be keen on jail breaking / rooting their phone.rnrnEven better if it could act as a hidden DNS update client, as per PC client to enable proper mobile filtering for kids etc. How about negotiating with the 2 "A list" mobile software vendors to add in as an OS tickbox?

All I want for an app would be a OpenDNS Updater app, and/or a Dashboard app.
| Edit
My children are not using PC any more, they only use Android tablets, having a dunamic IP configuration in my home network, often they could "escape" opendns control => an openDNS updater app is absolutelly needed.
| Edit
I have the same issue. When my kids go over to a friends house with their pads. I no longer have the security of OPENDNS on their pad. An app that allows the OPENDNS to follow the device anywhere is much needed. I would even be willing to pay more just for that extra protection.
Partner with ATT and VZ as a paid service. IMEI's to IP's to DNS...

You can change the DNS settings under WiFi if you are using a static IP address on WiFi (which I figure is rare =/ ) There are methods to change the 3G DNS but requires rooting your phone. At this time, there doesn't seem to be a good automated method.
