A browser bar should be created for all browsers where OpenDns member are constantly logged into the server while browsing the Internet. As they come up on websites that have unsuitable content, they can simply click on a button to submit that website to a special database set up for a "watchdog" public area on the OpenDns website.

This would create a large collection of websites that need evaluation. By going to the watchdog area, users can take the time to pinpoint words, photos, and other content on each websites. They will be marked using special built in software. Sort of like an editor, but not really. The purpose would be to allow the community to take direct part in cleaning up the Internet and maintaining it. The OpenDns company would then be able to further evaluate this collection of websites. But it would be simplified by the community. Therefore, more websites could be filtered out much quicker and more effectively.

Although I am satisfied with seeing websites get filtered out completely. There are still many websites that get through, but still contain content unsuitable for children. Google is a major culprit for finding ways to allow porn and other unsuitable content to get through and their SafeSearch feature is nothing to take serious. At least not by a parent. If the actual content of all websites was filtered out through the OpenDns servers, this would effectively immobilize all unsuitable content, regardless of where it comes from or how. This includes Google. I have to mention Google because many have become so dependent upon that website. And there is no way to block without blocking every server they offer. Just the mention that a person will not have access to Gmail is enough to see them NOT block Google search. And their image feature is a very large doorway to porn.

I can see where it would be difficult and expensive for employees of OpenDns to selectively filter out all content on a web page. But by having a watchdog community take part in the process with the click of a button while browsing, we could see a large increase in the effectiveness of OpenDns through expansion.

A toolbar, browser extension, plug-in, button or the like *is* a good idea. Howsoever, I'd also like to see a firm commitment from OpenDNS *and* the OpenDNS Community to keep such a tool up to date, on an improvement path, and relevant. rnrnThe was a Firefox extension, but it hasn't worked OOB since Firefox 5.0, and I requested a fix in June 2011. Firefox is now at version 16.01 on the release channel. No response from the extension developer. I was able to use it past 5 by tweaking it, but that was a sub-optimal answer. I was one of only 25 users for the extension, and there are on the order of 450 million Firefox users, world wide.rnrnSo, if we can get an OpenDNS and Community supported tool, I'm all for it.rnrn/s/ BezantSoftrn

This sounds very nice, you could even make a browser plugin that allows me to easy categorize sites like I can do now under "Domain Tagging".
